The Secretary for Innovation visits Grupo Álava, recalling that "without technology, the Sustainable Development Goals would not be possible".
Yesterday, January 18, Grupo Álava was honored to have the presence of Ms. Teresa Riesgo, Secretary General for Innovation of the Ministry of Culture, Innovation and Universities of the Government of Spain, at its headquarters in Madrid.
During her visit, Ms. Teresa Riesgo, who was accompanied by several of the company's top executives, was able to enjoy the latest technological advances in different areas of the industry, among which were high-speed imaging projects, as well as several models of hyperspectral cameras and an integral monitoring system, both visible and thermographic. The company's experts described how they work, as well as discussing their applications and referring to several projects they have executed using these and other techniques.
Among these technologies are those developed by MonoM, which has created an AIoT platform using Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and the Internet of Things. With it, companies can manage their assets, processes and industrial infrastructure.

The Secretary for Innovation showed her interest in the predictive maintenance technologies developed within the company, stressing that "one of the work and missions of Grupo Álava is to democratize predictive maintenance". He also stressed that "one of the priorities of the General Secretariat for Innovation is to broaden the scope of innovation, that is, to get more companies to innovate. Also the transfer of knowledge, and to talk about innovation in key technologies, which are the ones that offer great opportunities to Spain".
One of its subsidiaries, Álava Ingenieros, leads the Ready-Twin consortium. Its objective is to develop technology solutions to generate digital twins and improve the operation of complex assets. Grupo Álava also participates in the Cybersec Project through MonoM and Álava Ingenieros. Its mission is to research technologies and tools to develop solutions to protect against cyber-attacks in highly critical connected environments.
Preditec, another of Grupo Álava's subsidiaries, has implemented a data platform for preventive maintenance in the automotive industry, providing users with an information platform and a digital twin for managing the life cycle of industrial assets.
Another project in which the company is participating, through MonoM and MRA, is Multiple, which aims to develop a scalable and adaptable broadband multimodal photonic monitoring solution to optimize production in different sectors.
Among the executives who accompanied the Secretary for Innovation during her visit was José Fernández-Díez, Executive Vice-President of Grupo Álava, who stressed that they appreciated "the visit of the Secretary, who has been, so to speak, a cook before being a friar, which is important because from her position she can better understand our work. We liked to share the effects of public collaboration in the private sector and to let her know how to apply technology to the industry to make it more competitive".
Juan Rueda, vice president of business development at Grupo Álava, recalled the importance of technology and innovation for the advancement of the industry, and that "with the addition of technology to the industry, companies in multiple sectors can take a very important step forward to the next level, with systems that allow them not only to control and monitor the projects they undertake, but also to facilitate and expedite projects that would otherwise be more costly and time consuming."
The executive also pointed out that "the involvement of various government sectors in facilitating companies and organizations to adopt the most appropriate technologies for their activity is essential for the industry to continue growing and gaining weight at national and international level. However, a cultural change is needed in companies".
