REDMAAS Intercomparisons

On October 5 and 6, Grupo Álava will attend the Intercomparisons event of the Spanish Network of Environmental DMAs (REDMAAS) at the INTA's Atmospheric Sounding Station in Arenosillo, whose objective is to share information and knowledge to optimize the use and coordination of scientific-technological infrastructures.

The realization of joint studies between the different groups allows a better understanding of the behavior of the aerosol in our country, being able to study the variability in the distribution of the size according to the location.

The instrument used was the SMPS (Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer) particle spectrometer from our partner TSI. It consists of an electrostatic sorter whose function is to discriminate the size of the aerosol, and a particle counter that counts the number of particles in each size.

The purpose of REDMAAS is to facilitate the exchange and transfer of knowledge among the groups, so that cooperation among them is fostered in order to create synergies. This is done through a series of activities to ensure the quality of the measures, mutual assistance among the groups and to be able to participate in the developments that are carried out in this area.
