Remote sensing is a technique that consists of collecting data remotely (without contact) from a specific object or area. These data are generated by a remote device such as a LiDAR system (3D models), a hyperspectral system (chemical fingerprint), an infrared camera (thermal fingerprint) or a high resolution RGB camera (mapping) among others.
Merging these data with those provided by the associated GPS positioning systems, point clouds and georeferenced images/videos are obtained, allowing information to be extracted for later interpretation.

Remote sensing techniques in various applications
According to the IGN (National Geographic Institute), remote sensing is the technique of acquiring data of the earth's surface from sensors installed on space platforms. The electromagnetic interaction between the terrain and the sensor generates a series of data that are subsequently processed to obtain interpretable information about the Earth.
Currently, there is a wide variety of technological systems that allow us to make use of this technique in different applications, all of them in full expansion, and where only creativity is able to set limits.
