Although we will not be able to do anything to improve the reliability obtained in the design, it will be our mission to maintain this reliability by applying the best maintenance practices.
The focus of modern maintenance is not so much to preserve machine breakdown as to prevent loss of machine function. This will only be achieved by maintaining machine availability and this availability in turn will only be achieved by sustaining reliability.
The fundamental objective of maintenance today is not to reduce costs but to ensure production at the plant's maximum design capacity level.
To know the state of health of our machines, there is no doubt that we must use the technologies available today to monitor the health of the asset and diagnose any possible "diseases" that it may develop.
At the same time, we must apply the most appropriate tactics to be able to intervene in the teams only when there is evidence of need.
For all this, it is essential to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to properly handle the tools, as well as to be able to properly manage the maintenance program selected among the different tactics available: RTF, PM, PdM, PAM.
It is therefore necessary for companies to have an adequate training plan for their technicians so that they are effectively able to sustain the reliability of plant assets.
